Wow! Course 2 was not my most timely work. I was constantly late on my assignments and am now turning in my project late. You could say, I am not being a very good role model as a student. There were many events that contributed to my late assignments, although, I still feel a little disappointed. That’s okay though- I’m human and I have a goal to turn all of my coursework in on time for Course 3… especially getting an earlier start on the final project.
Although I am turning this project in a week late and I got officially started on it this week, I am still very happy with the turnout. For this project, Sylvia posted this blog post as an idea for what we could do –
For this course I would like to develop an introduction to digital safety with elementary/primary aged children. We are at the beginning of the school year and I feel that this would be beneficial to all. I would like to start with giving children the opportunity to inquire into our RUA agreement. This is based on the IB learner profile and was developed by a fellow COETAILer a couple of years ago. I want to introduce the idea of the digital tattoo, as previously discussed in my last post footprints-tattoos-cvs. Abbi Sandweiss, would this interest you? Please get in touch…
I really appreciated her reaching out to me and knew that my school also needed an update to our Responsible Use Agreement. This isn’t an update that will be able to happen this year as we already sent out our old document, but I will for sure be making these changes for next year (with board approval). Our previous document was not student friendly and didn’t make it easy for students to follow and use the agreements throughout the year. With this updated version and UBD planner, students will be able to develop a deeper understanding of what the agreement is requiring them to follow as citizens of our school.

Course 2 Final Project
I am very happy with the turnout and the student action that will take place with this assessment. I am going to put the unit plan into use – even though I will not be sending it home as a final document. I believe that the learner profiles that describe online behavior make it helpful for students to understand the importance.
Lastly, I wanted to say thank you to Sylvia for the great idea and hard work! It was important for me to have this experience because I often ask my students to work in groups. This can be challenging for them, as it was for us as well. We only had a two hour time difference, but with that and different schedules and a late start, it was hard for us to get our project really going! I was lucky to have a great partner! This video helps explain creative collaboration – and I feel like Sylvia and I are just beginning!
I to reflected back on my Course 1 final project to see all of my growth so far in course 1 and 2. I am excited with my progress and am looking forward to starting Course 3 tonight! I have some goals for this upcoming course that I will be sharing in my next post.
Stay tuned! 🙂
